The Whole World Waits
My day to post on this blog has always been Tuesday. It's so cool that this time it falls on election day. I can't wait to go to the polls after work! I am eager to watch results on T.V. as each states' votes get tallied, and the whole world waits with bated breath...
I'm also eager to move on. Enough campaigning, promises, and debating. Enough ads, media coverage, phone calls, and yard signs. I'm tired of the divisiveness. Let's put all our weight behind the winner and move on. After the smoke blows away and the mirrors crack, he's just a man. A man who can talk and persuade and raise money, and, let's hope, lead our country. And he will succeed with lots and lots of help.
The headline of my local newspaper for today is, "On The Eve Of Change". As a therapist, I can tell you that change is difficult, painful. People only get to the place where they are willing to change once they've hit rock bottom. Many would argue our country has. There is no magic pill. Change takes hard work.
Today the whole world is waiting. And watching. I hope we conduct ourselves with dignity no matter the outcome. And then get down to work.
