A Tribute to Those Who Have Come Before

I weep for those who have come before us and are unable to see our Black President.  I truly hope there is a special place in heaven for righteous people to look down on Barack Obama and rejoice.  I want Ulysses to see this - my Ulysses - the love of my life - to see that a Black man became president in our generation.  I want Martin Luther King to applaud the distance we have come since he was so brutally shot.  I hope Rosa Parks understands that she was an integral piece to this election process. I want every slave who was shipped to America to see that the day has come when a Black person can be elected president in this "field of blood".  I hope the election was viewed by the 3 young college students shot while signing up voters in the rural south and the 4 little girls bombed in the church in Atlanta.  May every victim of a lynching look down upon Obama with pride and may Emmett Till know that times have changed since he was murdered.  Oh, how I weep! I weep with joy and sorrow!
