Go West Young Man

My 22 year old son, Alex, and his good friend, Dan, are in their ninth week of a cross country road trip.  They took off from Concord the beginning of August and are now in Indiana heading home.

I can't name all the places that they have been, but I know the main stops - Philadelphia, Wash. D.C., Ashville, NC, New Orleans, Austin, TX, Phoenix, Park City, UT, the Grand Canyon, Santa Fe, NM, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Eugene,OR, Montana, Chicago...

So, you see it is a trip of a lifetime.  I am all for it.  At my ripe age you realize that there are some things that you can only do when you are young.  Alex and Dan don't have a set agenda; they stay with friends and relatives whenever they can and camp when they can't; they spend a lot of time driving; they are up for anything and everything is an adventure.  This trip is perfect when you are 22!

Not only is "life short", but responsibility comes along in due time and then it's hard to take 10 weeks to travel.  When you are older, creature comforts become more important as well as schedules and precautions.  I am pleased that my child wants to travel and has the wherewithal to do what he wants.  It's a wonderful thing! Yeah Alex and Dan!!!  Enjoy the rest of your trip and carry it with you for the rest of your lives!

Real Estate Hint #20 - Time is of the Essence.  That phrase is stated on the offer form.  Brokers are always in a hurry - we dash out to show houses, we write offers any time day or night, we push to get the Purchase and Sales signed.  We know that time can thwart plans.  This was certainly brought home this week with the stock market plunge.  All the  signed deals put together last week are going forward; many deals pending this week have been cancelled by nervous buyers.
