WIFI ANYONE?
I am typing this blog on my brand new laptop computer. It came in the mail last Thursday. I ordered it online from Dell. I didn't do this alone. About 3 weeks ago my friend, Kathy, and I sat down at a computer in my office and "created" our look-alike computers on the Dell website. We had to make a lot of choices - maybe 15 - and we did it with great discussion, laughter and prayers. I know enough about computers to make a lot of the decisions knowledgably, but I also can make mistakes. So, with some trepidation and a lot of great recommendations from Dell, we virtually put the laptop computers together, entered a credit card, and pushed "Submit".
Kathy came over for pizza and computer setup this past Friday night. We had a blast. We were so excited to open the boxes, read the directions, and get to it! We were both up and running within an hour!
And, now I can't leave the computer alone. In the past 4 days I have set up my desktop, played a few hours of Freecell, Hearts and Spider Solitaire; started a new mailing list on excell, received and sent emails, watched a few videos on Youtube, read the news and the weather daily, typed a packing list for my vacation, and now I have blogged.
Because it is my first laptop (not a desktop), I am curious about WIFI. I do not have it at home nor do any of my neighbors (apparently stealing WIFI is a new sport!) so I went to Starbucks and spent a solid 30 minutes figuring out how to get online without wires in the coffee shop. I did it! Granted I had to call the Help number, but the guy was great and walked me through the process so I was able to read our blog and send an email while drinking Cafe Americano. Yeah! Another small step in technology for me. At my age these small steps are fantastic - they make me feel young and smart and totally "with it"!!
By the way, I can't decide if I need WIFI at home. Do you have it? Like it? Use it? Please send me your comments on WIFI in the home!!!
Real Estate Hint #15 - Call on the phone!!! If you have worked with a Realtor for a number of weeks or even months and for one reason or another you are not going to purchase a home with that Realtor, call and explain and tell them you are sorry. We put our heart and soul into finding our clients a home to purchase. We think about it daily, check the listings, preview homes, meet with the clients on weekends and Sundays and care! But, many times the client purchases in another part of the state or decides this is not a good time to purchase or gets sick and can't look at houses for a few months - whatever! Please, please, please let the broker know that you appreciate their hard work, but will not be able to work with them on the purchase of your home. Thank you!!
